The Twins Top 5 Books They Love To Read

This week I have let the twins take over my blog. I asked them to get me their 5 favourite books that they love to read and to tell me why they love them in one or two sentences. These are the books that they chose and the sentences are completely unedited or influenced.

First up is Poppy:

1: "You're All My Favourites" by Sam McBratney:

"They read this on Cbeebies Bedtime Stories and it is a good one. I like the pretty pictures"

2: "The Jelly That Wouldn't Wobble" by Angela Mitchell:

SPOILER ALERT: "I like how this book ends when the boy gets lots of chocolate coins"

3: "Dear Dinosaur" by Nicola O'Byrne:

"It has real letters to read which are fun to read and it's got dinosaurs in it and I like dinosaurs (roooooaaaaar)"

4: "Reindeer's First Christmas" by Caroline Quin and Emily Hawkins

"I like the pop up pages and I like pop up books and I like reindeers and it is about a beautiful little reindeer who finds Santa Claus. He is on a big trip and then he finds him"

The original French version - Poppy has the translated one

5: "Superworm" by Julia Donaldson

"I like this because he gets lost and then his friends save him and because Superworm is super long and Superworm is super strong"

And here are Ruby's:

1: "Tiddler" by Julia Donaldson

"I like this book because it is my Daddy's favourite and it's about a fish with a big imagination"

2: "The Gruffalo" by Julia Donaldson

"I think this is scary but I love that it's a made up monster and I like how the mouse finds a nut and the nut was good"

3: "The Big Books of Bears" by Various

"I love bears and these are bear stories. I love all of them"

4: "The Fairytale Hairdresser and Father Christmas" by Abie Longstaff and Lauren Beard

"I like this book because it has Santa in it and I like Santa. I like that it has Rudolph in it too"

5: "Toddler Treasury" by Katie Saunders

"I like this because it is a fun book even if it is for babies I still love to read it"

Some great choices in there from the Twiglets. I particularly like that "Tiddler" is in there as I bloody love that book. "Dear Dinosaur" is also a great book and I really enjoy reading that with the twins. I love a book with real letters in it.

What are you child(ren)'s favourite books that they love to read? Leave me a comment or tweet me.

Until next time...

"What Did You Think Of.....Captain Underpants?"

For our latest review we took the twins to see "Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie". I say "we"...I let Kate take them with their Aunty Spot while I sat in Costa and read my book with a latte. Here is their review:   Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie       WARNING: COULD CONTAIN SPOILERS     Describe "Captain Underpants" in a nut shell:   Ruby:  It is about a man who is a teacher and a boy who finds a ring and turns him in to Captain Underpants.    Poppy:   Two little boys who love making comics and there was a nasty teacher and they turned him into Captain Underpants.    Kate/Spot:  Comic books come to life.      What was your favourite bit of "Captain Underpants?"   Ruby:  Every time the boy said "Freeze" and talked to the camera (broke the 4th wall).     Poppy: When he was changing to Captain Underpants and the...

Me And My Dad: Video Games

Me And My Dad:   1: Video Games   Growing up my Dad and I had a great relationship. I don't have any vivid memories of him shouting at me or us fighting over trivial things (although I am sure they did happen). Looking back over my memories of growing up with my Dad I can totally see where my love for movies, video games, horror, reading, quizzing and cooking came from. For my next few posts I am going to delve in to each of these a little further...starting with Video Games!   I am now 36...my Dad is 64. Two days ago he sent me a WhatsApp message with a link to a video on YouTube for a recent video game called "Thimbleweed Park". He wrote:   "Have you seen this? It is done by some of the guys who did Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion. It look's great"   Reading that made so many good memories float back from the late 80s/early 90s when my Dad and I were obsessed with Point and Click Adventure Games on the PC. I was really lucky to have a...

Me And My Dad: Reading

Me and My Dad: 3: Reading My Dad is an avid reader! He always has at least one book on the go but more often than not he will have about ten! He buys books, he borrows books off friends, he borrows them from the library, he downloads them on his Kindle...he will read a book in any format. Naturally because of that, I too am an avid reader (although these days I don't read as much as I used to). I love to get myself lost in a good story and I don't particularly have a genre that I prefer. I like a good thriller, a scary horror, a mystery, an adventure, fantasy and even the occasional piece of "chick-lit" (I like Sophie Kinsella books...she is pretty funny). These are five books that I associate with my Dad, all for different reasons. 1: Well Done Noddy by Enid Blyton My brother was a big fan of the "Noddy" books so we had lots in the house growing up. As I was younger than him, they were passed down to me. My Dad would often read me ...
