Here is my Dadsquad Linky post....

If you have followed my posts from the beginning and have followed my posts over on Dadsquad you will know that I am a big movie fan.

I love going to the cinema and I love taking the twins to see a movie. They love going to the cinema too.

I have lost count of the number of movies we have been to see but I have decided for this post I will list my "Top 5 Best Animated Kids Movies" and "Top 5 Worst Animated Kids Movies". Here goes...

(Note - These are all movies I have watched at the cinema with the twins and not movies from when I was a kid. I watched these for the first time with the twins. I have only included Animated movies as Live Action ones deserve their own list. They are not in any particular order)

10: Worst - Norm Of The North

This is absolutely atrocious! The whole concept, the animation, the story, the script, the voice acting...everything about this is just awful! I found it to be extremely painful to watch and all of the bad reviews were fully justified. If you haven't had the displeasure of watching this (I believe it is on Netflix UK so could be stumbled upon) then don't punish yourself or your kids. It is insulting to the intelligence of everyone is existence!

9: Best - Zootropolis aka Zootopia

Disney have been on a roll for the past few years now. "Tangled" was a great movie, "Wreck-It-Ralph" was brilliant, "Big Hero 6" was awesome and, yes, even though I have seen it a million times, "Frozen" is not the worst. But "Zootropolis" is on a whole different level. This is a very clever, witty and charming movie with great characters and a brilliant story. I think Disney will find it hard to beat this in the coming years.

8: Worst - The Snow Queen 2

I haven't even seen "The Snow Queen" - didn't even know it was a thing! I took the kids to see this at Kids Club one day out of sheer boredom and for something to do. They loved it but I thought it was terrible. It is so bad that I can't even remember anything about it.

7: Best - Kubo And The Two Strings

"Kubo and The Two Strings" was possibly the most underrated animated movie of 2016 - in my opinion anyway. In fact it could be one of the most underrated animated movies of all time. It looks amazing, has a brilliant, deep story and the characters are likeable and relatable. If you haven't seen it yet I strongly suggest you find it and watch it. The twins loved it - so much so they had zero toilet breaks throughout which is a sure sign of a movie that has captured their attention.

6: Worst - Two By Two aka Oops Noah Is Gone

This movie causes some major debate in our household. This was another one I took the kids to see at Kids Club out of boredom. The whole concept was decent I guess (made up animals that didn't get on to Noah's ark so how they survived and what happened to them) but it was just so badly executed. The animation was terrible, the story was basic and there just wasn't much substance to it. However, the twins and my wife both enjoyed it. My wife will admit it isn't ground breaking but she claims there are worse movies out there. She could be right - but I still found this movie to be bad!

5: Best - The Good Dinosaur

I love, love, love "The Good Dinosaur". It came out in the same year as "Inside Out" (I haven't included that on this list as even though I really enjoyed it the twins haven't actually seen it yet. They watched 20 minutes and were a bit confused so we turned it off) which did much, much better than "The Good Dinosaur" at the box office. "The Good Dinosaur" was slated on release as it was quite a basic premise and story. But, you know what, that is what I loved about it. I loved that it had a start, a middle and an end and that it was just a solid, complete movie which didn't set up a franchise or a sequels. Plus, it made me cry like a baby! I'm talking full on wobbly bottom lip!

4: Worst - Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return

My goodness this was a bad movie! But the twins absolutely love it! They love it to the point that we bought it on DVD for them and they watched it sooooo many times that the DVD broke! That isn't bad going for a movie that is only a couple of years old. They now have a new one and, thankfully, they are over it so we haven't seen this one in a good while. Again, another movie with a slightly decent concept (Dorothy goes back to Oz, shenanigans happen) but it was so badly animated and the amazing voice cast was underused. If you haven't seen this then my advice to you would be.....don't!

3: Best - Moana

So remember above where I said Disney would have to work really hard to beat "Zootropolis"? Well they did it with their next movie, "Moana". What can I say about this movie other than everything about it is brilliant! The characters are great, the story is different and fast paced, the animation is out of this world (that scene at the end with Nefertiti is stunning) and the songs are brilliant! If you see this and don't spend the next three months singing "You're Welcome" then there is seriously something wrong with you. A beautiful movie that I can't recommend enough.

2: Worst - The Wild Life aka Robison Crusoe

I am not even going to justify anything for this one - an utter piece of trash! If you haven't heard of it or seen it just watch the trailer on YouTube and you'll already know what kind of movie it is.

1: Best - Shaun The Sheep: The Movie

Ah "Shaun the Sheep: The Movie" - I love this movie! I love "Shaun the Sheep" in general as think it is a brilliantly animated and well told TV series so when I heard there was a movie I was very excited. We took the twins to see this on general release (one of the rare times I didn't make them wait until Kids Club) and it was brilliant! There is hardly any dialogue and it isn't very long (about 75 minutes) but every second of it is brilliant! This was the first movie we took the twins to see where they didn't request toilet breaks and where they just sat in silence and watched the movie. A novel moment of cinema which I will treasure. If you haven't seen this then I strongly advise you do - you won't regret it!

And that is that - my 5 best and my 5 worst animated kids movie.

Which movies have you watched with the kids that you loved or hated.?Leave me a comment.

Me And My Dad: Reading

Me and My Dad: 3: Reading My Dad is an avid reader! He always has at least one book on the go but more often than not he will have about ten! He buys books, he borrows books off friends, he borrows them from the library, he downloads them on his Kindle...he will read a book in any format. Naturally because of that, I too am an avid reader (although these days I don't read as much as I used to). I love to get myself lost in a good story and I don't particularly have a genre that I prefer. I like a good thriller, a scary horror, a mystery, an adventure, fantasy and even the occasional piece of "chick-lit" (I like Sophie Kinsella books...she is pretty funny). These are five books that I associate with my Dad, all for different reasons. 1: Well Done Noddy by Enid Blyton My brother was a big fan of the "Noddy" books so we had lots in the house growing up. As I was younger than him, they were passed down to me. My Dad would often read me &

"What Did You Think Of.....The Boss Baby"?

For our latest review The Twiglets and I have reviewed "The Boss Baby". We went to see this at the local Odeon on "Kids Club" on the first day of the Summer Holidays. We took my Dad to see it too as he secretly loves a cartoon. Here are our thoughts...   The Boss Baby     WARNING: COULD CONTAIN SPOILERS     Describe "The Boss Baby" in a nut shell:   Ruby: A boy gets a baby brother who is the Boss Baby. They don't like each other. Then they do.   Poppy: The little boy doesn't like it when the Boss Baby comes to his house but then they become friends.   Me:  I could describe this in two ways:   1) On The Surface - This is essentially what the twins said. A boy gets a new little brother who is the Boss Baby and they don't get along. Then they do get along as they have to team up to save their parents from disaster.   2) Beneath The Surface - For a kids cartoon this is pretty complex. Tim's parents get a ne

"Grandma...Can We Have A Sleepover?"

When you find out you are having a baby it is a surreal feeling. When you find out that you are having two at the same time it is even more surreal!! We found out, like most parents, at our 12 week scan and once we had told our family and close friends we announced it to the world via Facebook. We received mainly positive reactions from everybody as most people would write comments like: " That is amazing news " or " Congratulations. So happy for you both " or " Double the babies means double the love " And so on. But there were the odd comments we received that I chose to ignore at first but I didn't forget them and they pondered in my mind for months on end. They were the comments like: " Say goodbye to ever sleeping again " and " Prepare to never have any money for the rest of your life. Babies are expensive and two at once is even more expensive " and " My friend has twins and he had a nervous breakdown when t
